Over the weekend, I woke with thoughts about what it means to be brave every day. Like what am I really trying to say here?
Ultimately, I think that it's really brave to create a life you want and sometimes it's even braver to understand and know that pieces of that vision will change and evolve as you change and evolve.
You see, it's not easy to know thyself. It's even harder living in a world that is constantly bombarding you with images, messages, stories that are tell you who and what you're supposed to be. Some might even call it a luxury to be able to hear yourself think sometimes.
That's why it's important to spend some time on your own, to be moved by something inward and quiet, a brave resolve to dare to be a little more of who you are at the core.
That's pretty esoteric for a Monday morning, I realize... so what does that even mean?
It means that if you're not sure why you make the choices you make, or why you desire the things you do that it might be time to figure out how to figure out your why. Not in a blaming or shameful way, but in a curious and loving way. Then it might be time to get quiet, to journal a bit, to head into nature and ask the trees for guidance so that you can feel more clarity and feel grounded in that knowing.
If you are looking around at your life and wondering, "How did I get here?" there's some really good news. You have steered your life in that direction, and you have the power to steer your ship in any direction you wish to go. So if you're liking where you are at right now, great! Drop an anchor and enjoy the view.
If you are wishing some things were different, there is hope and possibility just behind the clouds.
It's not always easy to move in another direction. There may be rocks or storms in the way, but we aren't talking about scrapping anything and starting over. No, in fact a mere 1 degree shift has the power to put you on another path.
So think small today. Think about where you'd like to be and ask yourself, what's the one teeny, tiny step I can take today to change course.
And then take a deep breath, sit up a little taller, and bravely take that step.
