Beginning Again

Today, I'm beginning again. We do this every day, but today I am beginning again with a writing intention -- no, a writing commitment.

You see, I've been absent here in this blog space, more than a year to be exact. But I have been writing, I have been seeking, and learning, and doing. So it's okay that this space took a back seat for awhile, because "if everything is important, then nothing is." (That's a Mel Robbins take on a Karen Martin quote about priorities.)

For the last 18 months or so, my writing priority has been my memoir and supporting other writers to begin their transformational books. And I've loved it. Now that my manuscript is in the hands of an editorial team I'm able to turn my eyes toward the next thing (even though I still have loads of writing and re-writing to do for the next couple of months).

And that is landing me here for two reasons:

1) I want to be a more consistent writer. It's habit, it's practice and it's important to me in this stage of my writing life that I tap more deeply into the space that allows me to think, to breathe, and to teach more clearly and with integrity.

2) In full transparency, it's part of the work to market my book. But it's deeply meaningful work even if a piece of the motivation is to have more of my writing out on the internet, to have more eyes on the message that I care deeply about.

That message is about bravery. It's about showing up every day, despite the challenges we face. It's about creating a life that we can show up authentically as ourselves and feel more connection, love, and inspiration. It's about being brave enough to take the one next step toward our dreams, even if we can only see the first stepping stone in front of us.

So today is another first day for me. I made a commitment to myself and here to you, dear reader, to write for 30 days (6 days a week for 5 weeks). I want to be a woman of my word. I want to be a writer who writes. I want to bravely show up, every day, so that you can do the same.

Together, through these words, this page, we can stand with curiosity and courage and create a life we love.
